Needle Felted Blue Wren - Full Day Workshop

Needle Felting - Beginner & Above - $80.00

For this workshop you will be given a kit containing a wire armature, a beak, eyes and sufficient wool for the project. Plus the use of a piece of foam on which to work. First time needle-felters will be able to purchase a #38 and #40 felting needle on the day from Liz Green Arts. Your bird will be free standing so you can place it in a vase of flowers. You could attach it to a piece of wood or a Poly clay stand if you wish.

You will need to bring some small craft items to be used on the day, including:

  • a sewing needle
  • black thread
  • a pair of scissors
  • Also a good emery board or nail file if you have one
  • If you have a Clover felting brush and felting needles, bring these as well, or you can borrow a felting brush on the day. Liz Green Arts also stocks these items if you would like to purchase them on or before the class day.
  • A book (Field Guide to Birds) or pictures of blue wrens will help in applying the colours in the correct places.

Skills covered will include:

  • General needle felting terminology and techniques
  • How to create an Armature
  • How to create a Needle Felted Bird shape using an armature
  • Posture & tips for avoiding strain and injury
  • Tips and suggestions for finishing your needle felted Blue Wren and other needle felted items

We will be using 100% wool fibre, if you are unable to use wool please contact us to discuss possible alternative options.

Please note: All Classes and Workshops will be run in line with current VIC Health Guidelines and restrictions in relation to Covid19, therefore:

  • If you have any Covid-19 symptoms DO NOT attend, please contact us to discuss
  • Places are limited in each class so booking is essential! If the class you are after is sold out, please contact us to be put on a waiting list.
  • Some classes will be run outside in the garden if it is a nice day, so please bring a hat, mozzie/bug repelent and your own sunscreen
  • Please bring your own Mug for Tea & Coffee, you are also welcome to bring your own tea / coffee in a thermos if you prefer
  • There are currently no food facilities at the Studio due to Covid-19. Please arrange your own lunch, for example you could have a picnic down on the foreshore or head into Paynesville to a local cafe – we have extended the lunch break to 1.5 hours to allow for this, and to allow us time for extra cleaning in the studio.
  • You will also need to wear a mask in accordance with Victorian government regulations and participants must wear a face covering while indoors. If you are unable to wear a mask for health reasons please let us know when booking and we can discuss any alternative measures you would like to take to help keep yourself safe.

Please feel free to contact me using the "contact us" below, or by emailing me at lizgreenarts @ if you have any questions about the classes or would like to reqister your interest in one of the classes on this page. Now is the perfect time to get into your craft and learn something new!
